  • Slain Israelite was Zimri ben Salu, leader of the house of Shimon; the Midianite woman was Cozbi bat Zur.
  • Hashem tells Israel to kill the Midianites because of Peor and Cozbi.
  • Hashem orders Moshe and Elazar to take a new census of males over twenty years.
