The goal of this innovative course is to discover tools in the Torah that are meant to improve and enhance our parent-child relationships (regardless of the age of the parent or the child).  At the same time, these tools are also oriented toward and applicable to “all” relationships whether they be marital, family, the work place or friends.

Breishit, The Book of Genesis, will serve as a resource to delve into this subject. We will be looking to G-d, Hashem, as The Perfect Parent, Teacher and Role Model, as he parents the first “children” in the world. We will then take some of these tools to a next level. By utilizing selected classical Torah commentaries, we will explore how some of the Torah personalities apply these tools in their parent-child relationships. Finally, and most importantly, we will reflect upon our takeaway – the lessons we can derive and apply in our lives today.

Some of the themes we will be covering are: Respect; Unconditional Love; Support; Setting Parameters; Establishing Rules; Implementing Consequences; Choice; Listen; Promote Responsibility; Blame & Ingratitude; Unconditional Acceptance and The Separate Journeys.
