Rabbi_Katz_HeadShot

Rabbi David Katz lives in the Holy City of "Tzfat" in Northern Israel, The Galil.  Rabbi Katz has been studying Torah for the past 15 years, and in particular in Tzfat's Holy Ancient City.  While earning Smicha from the well known "Av Beis Din Be' Daatz of Jerusalem: Ha Rav Ha Gaon Zalman Nechemia Goldberg Shlita, Rabbi Katz has committed himself to the study of all aspects within Torah. He is verse in Talmudic Law, Kabbalah (as it was made well known in the city of Tzfat), Talmudics, Midrash, Chumash, Tanach, etc, and well versed in the many commentaries. (Rishonim and Achronim) An interesting fact of Rabbi Katz, is his Torah (Teacher - Student; Family) Lineage: he goes back to the famed Vilna Gaon both in study and in Heritage: as his family is from Vilna, he is also a student of a teacher-pupil relationship dating back to the Gaon himself. Rabbi Katz has taken up many of the Vilna Gaon's Teachings, and is well accomplished in his famed work: Kol Hator - which the "Gra" has said is the "Shulchan Aruch of the Geulah." Along with this sefer, Rabbi Katz is working on publishing an original translation into English of the Gra's fascinating commentary to King Solomon's "Shir HaShirim."

Rabbi Katz grew up in Middle America and attended college before attending yeshiva in Israel in 2001.  Since entering Yeshiva, the Rabbi has always had a connection to "Shem ben Noach", as Shem is found in many of the Teachings that Rabbi Katz has encountered, namely in that he (Shem) is termed "one of the four craftsmen of redemption." While researching this topic, it was found that Shem is an essential character in the Entire Torah, and these revelations lead the way to "Original Noahide Torah"; it is Rabbi Katz's passion to bring these teachings to light and to share and publish them at large.

Along with Rabbi Katz's Noahide Teachings, he is eager to publish his many "Chiddushim" (Original Insights) that he has compiled from many of the Talmud's Tractates; The famed "First Parek" (Shayim Ochzin) of Bava Metzia in particular. Rabbi Katz offers a strong novel insight into Jewish Law (Halacha) as well, while focusing on his Smicha studies in "Hilchos Shabbos" (Laws of Shabbat).

Rabbi Katz can be found on multiple websites, where his Torah is available by download (Torahanytime.com), and he runs an innovative Torah Blog called, "Soulmazal.blogspot.com." Soul Mazal is the service provided by Rabbi Katz, that as per the methodology of the Vilna Gaon, Rabbi Katz is able to learn and educate the wisdom that is found in one's name, by employing the ancient practice called, "Pardes", where all of the Torah's components are employed at one time. Along with this, he is able to help and guide people with questions about their name, converts to Judaism who need a name, and Noahides seeking to connect to Hebrew and Torah, to help them choose and receive a fitting name that expresses the soul within.
