Dr. Andrew Goldfinger

Dr. Andrew Goldfinger has a Ph. D. in theoretical physics, and a Masters Degree in counseling.  He currently works at the Applied Physics Laboratory of the Johns Hopkins University.  He is past chairman of the Space Radar Working Group of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, and past Director of Space Technology Training for the Republic of China.  Dr. Goldfinger has lectured internationally for the Aish HaTorah Rabbinical College and for Gateway Seminars.  He is also author of the book “Thinking About Creation: Eternal Torah and Modern Physics.”

Typical Lectures

“Science and Creation” --  Does modern science contradict the Bible when it comes to creation of the universe, or does it not?  What about the creation of man?  Did he evolve from the apes, or was he created as he is?  Did it take billions of years, or only six days?

“The Psychology of Torah Observance”  Alternate Title:  “Food, Sex and Power: A Torah Perspective” -- How do the various components of Torah combine to form a coherent whole?  What are the implications regarding human relationships and psychological drives?

“Miracles and Physical Law” -- Are miracles really possible?  Don’t they contradict the laws of nature?  What does a scientist say about this?  If G-d exists, why does He hide from us?

“Evolution, Intelligent Design, and Arrogance” – Does Intelligent Design belong in the schools?  Has evolution been proven?  Are proponents of one side or the other thinking clearly?  Is there a difference between faith and science?

“Religious Engineering” -- How can technology be used in the service of Torah observance?  Can practical religious problems be solved by science?  And -- isn’t this cheating?

“The Meaning of Life” -- What is life all about?  What does pleasure have to do with it all?  How can we maximize the pleasure of living?

'Future Shock” --  Science, technology and 9/11 are changing our lives radically.  What shocks are coming?  How will we handle the future?

“The Torah Codes Controversy” --  Researchers named Rips, Witztum and Gans have performed deep statistical analyses of the Torah text.  Their results suggest hidden patterns, “codes,” that deal with current events.  Are the patterns accidental, or were they put there by an intelligent author?
